Job Summary & Qualifications Under the general supervision of the Director of Laboratory Services, the Medical Laboratory Technician provides clinical laboratory services to patients in accordance with accepted practices and Departmental and Hospital standards of care.
Responsibilities
Maintain high degree of competency in the operation of all equipment in the performance of clinical laboratory testing, including troubleshooting and minor repair.
Apply general knowledge of instrumentation in assigned areas of the Laboratory.
Apply general knowledge of quality control in assigned areas of the Laboratory.
Collect specimens as needed utilizing appropriate precautions to promote patient comfort and minimize potential exposure.
Process routine test results to include analysis, calculations, and reporting of results.
Refer problems or seek consultation as needed with a Medical Technologist.
Qualifications
Associate Degree in Medical Laboratory Technology or equivalent military training.
Previous experience in hospital clinical laboratory preferred.
