Role description Arcadis is seeking a Senior Construction Manager
Municipal Utilities, with 15+ years of experience to join our Water Construction Management team in one of the Arcadis San Diego Area offices.
Arcadis has significantly grown its municipal water team and construction management services in Southern California over the past few years. This position offers an exciting opportunity for a self-motivated individual to join our local team.
Role accountabilities : As a Senior Construction Manager, you will provide leadership across all phases of construction projects overseeing daily activities, managing contracts, and ensuring quality assurance and control standards are met. You will monitor contractor performance, site safety, and subcontractor and supplier activities, regularly updating clients on progress and any deviations from plans.
Collaborating closely with Project and Program Managers, you will help plan, execute, and deliver engineering projects on time, within budget, and to client expectations. This role involves supervising and mentoring junior technical staff, leveraging your expertise in cost trends, change management, and claims to ensure successful project delivery aligned with company standards.
Strong communication skills are essential for leading meetings related to progress, safety, scheduling, and contract administration with clients, agencies, and community stakeholders. You will also recommend improvements to project costs, budgets, and schedules, requiring proficiency in Primavera P6, MS Project, and PMWEB.
Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor's of Science Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering
Minimum of 15 years experience in construction management on civil works projects (earthwork, roads, utilities, infrastructure, paving, pumping stations, wastewater treatment plants, etc).
Advanced verbal and written communication and organizational skills.
Ability to interact effectively with the Construction Contractor management personnel and crew.
Ability to work with others, including utilities, state, local, and federal agencies.
Demonstrate independent and effective problem solving / decision making.
Must be fluent in both written and spoken English.
Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree in Engineering, Construction or a BS in these fields and an MBA.
A PE, CCM or QSP is also highly desired.
Active participation in a regional or national professional association.
Familiarity with wastewater treatment plant instrumentation and controls.
