The Mechanical Design Engineer is responsible for supporting new power wheelchair product development by coordinating work across functional teams to define the product design requirements and ensure these requirements are satisfied; develop and manufacture tooling, test fixtures/equipment and prototypes for product development; manage development projects by providing project planning. Master’s degree in mechanical engineering or biomedical engineering 5 years progressively responsible work experience as an engineer in mechanical product design and new product development; FEA, CAD (SolidWorks/CATIA), GD&T, and Tolerance Stack-Up Analysis; DFMEA, Design of experiments, and DFM principles; manufacturing processes including sheet metal fabrication, machining, injection molding, and casting; stage-gate product development process; and collaborating with overseas suppliers to resolve technical issues related to tooling, ensuring quality, efficiency, and seamless production processes.
