(Part-Time) Psychiatry Support Clinician (06000C) University Health Services 81338
University Health Services (UHS) serves the UC Berkeley campus as a comprehensive health center, providing medical, counseling and psychological services. This part‑time psychiatrist supports an integrated behavioral health model, collaborating with medical and mental health teams to provide direct clinical care, population‑based care, and training to students and staff.
Responsibilities
Clinical Support – Consultation (35–55%)
– Routinely consult, recommend treatment adjustments, and respond to telephone, electronic messages, and EHR chart reviews for complex patients.
Direct Clinical Care (30%)
– Provide brief, in‑moment evaluations, assess disposition, offer therapeutic support, and connect students with additional mental health services on the same day.
Population‑Based Care Support (5–10%)
– Review population caseloads, participate in case review consultations, and identify trends with care managers and other team members.
Training, Collaboration, and Capacity‑Building (10–30%)
– Deliver in‑service training, support staff meetings and case conferences, and develop interdepartmental programs to increase UHS capacity for student mental health.
Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
MD or equivalent; successful completion of an ACGME‑accredited psychiatry residency.
Significant outpatient psychiatry experience.
Active California Medical License; board certification in psychiatry; BLS certification; DOJ CURES registration.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working with young adults and/or in a college health setting.
Experience in an integrated care model and multidisciplinary team settings.
Experience with mental health quality assurance and continuous improvement initiatives.
Salary & Benefits Salary range: $78,614 – $146,151 (FTE prorated). This 50% part‑time career position is eligible for full UC benefits, paid monthly, and exempt.
