Job Description

The University of California, Berkeley is seeking a Per Diem Medical Assistant to join the University Health Services team. The successful candidate will provide high-quality patient care, perform administrative tasks, and maintain a clean and safe work environment. About the Department University Health Services (UHS) serves the campus by providing comprehensive primary medical care, counseling, and psychological services, as well as innovative health promotion programs for students, faculty, and staff. Responsibilities Greet patients, verify eligibility, and check necessary forms before patient is seen. Answer telephone and refer to appropriate personnel as required to meet patient needs. Schedule and reschedule patient appointments using a computerized appointment system. Demonstrate priority setting ability and organizational skills. Assist in maintaining smooth clinic operations and optimal patient flow. Intake and Checkout Document chief complaint and patient interactions according to established guidelines. Take vital signs and room patient as per unit guidelines. Document findings and report abnormal findings to RN or clinician. Instruct patient in specimen collection and perform specific testing as defined by assigned unit. Clinic Maintenance and Supplies Demonstrate ability to use equipment correctly and safely. Keep inventory of supplies and restock in assigned area as needed. Clean and stock rooms in assigned areas as per protocol. Required Qualifications Graduation from high school (or GED). Completion of Medical Assistant training through an accredited program/school. Current BLS/CPR certification. Current Medical Assistant Diploma. Salary and Benefits This is a 20% part-time (8 hours per week) per diem position, with an hourly rate of $33.50. Per diem positions are not eligible for the UC benefits plan.
