Principal Member of Technical Staff (IC4)
Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) delivers mission‑critical applications for top enterprises worldwide, operating in more than 50 regions. Within OCI, the Technical Strategy & Oversight (TSO) organization builds foundational systems and frameworks that power our most demanding tier‑one services. One of its bold initiatives is Autonomous OCI – a greenfield effort to redesign the kernel and runtime of the cloud itself.
We are looking for a Principal Member of Technical Staff with distributed systems and mission‑critical cloud‑scale services experience. You will drive projects, provide technical leadership, and deliver highly available, scalable systems that are simple to operate.
Responsibilities:
Help build the Light‑weight Infrastructure, the next‑generation runtime for compute, networking, storage, telemetry, and governance.
Dive deep into complex systems, design and develop core service components, and collaborate across teams to improve scale, resilience, and simplicity.
Work with architects to ensure new capabilities are built with correct design principles.
Participate in design reviews, operations, hiring, and mentoring, shaping the next generation of the OCI Service Platform.
Qualifications:
6–10+ years of engineering experience in distributed systems and cloud services.
Expertise in software development with languages such as Java or Go.
Excellent problem‑solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex issues.
Experience in Cloud Compute, Orchestration, Virtualization, Storage, or Networking systems.
Strong communication skills and collaboration across teams.
Experience with one of the major cloud infrastructures (OCI, AWS, Azure, or GCP).
Experience with containers, Kubernetes, and scalable, reliable workflows is a plus.
