Selene Finance, LP (“Selene”) is a residential mortgage company with expertise in all aspects of mortgage loan servicing and special servicing, providing creative loan resolution strategies that preserve homeownership.
Position Description Selene is seeking a qualified candidate for the Fund Accountant position (“Accountant”). The role will focus exclusively on residential credit separately managed accounts (“SMAs”). The Accountant will report to the Controller of the SMAs and manage finance, accounting, tax, and reporting activities for the SMAs. The ideal candidate is familiar with residential mortgage loan and real‑estate owned (“REO”) accounting.
Responsibilities
Play a supporting role in the month‑end close process
Assist with the monthly, quarterly, and year‑end SMA deliverable process
Assist with the annual audit
Prepare bank account reconciliations
Help reconcile differences between internal books and servicer data
Assist with ad‑hoc investor questions and reconciliations
Assist with ad‑hoc business development and corporate accounting asks
Participate in various projects to help strengthen internal controls and create efficiencies
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in accounting or equivalent business experience
2‑3 years of accounting experience
Self‑starter comfortable operating in a dynamic, entrepreneurial environment with evolving roles
Strong attention to detail
Effective verbal and written communication skills
Preferred: CPA, CMA, or MBA degree
Preferred: residential mortgage loan / REO accounting and operations experience
Preferred: private equity fund accounting experience
Preferred: SQL and Tableau knowledge
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
