Malignant Hematologist | Winston‑Salem, NC Novant Health Transplantation and Cellular Therapy Program is seeking an allogeneic transplanter skilled in acute leukemia and allogeneic transplantation for our Winston‑Salem, NC site.

Opportunity Highlights

Novant Health System is searching for a Malignant Hematologist focused on acute leukemia and allogeneic transplant at our primary Winston‑Salem location.

We are a FACT accredited Transplantation and Cellular Therapy Program performing autologous transplantation, CART cell therapy, and allogeneic transplant.

The program currently has eight physician providers and 15+ advanced practice providers (APPs) divided between Charlotte and Winston‑Salem sites, operating independently for patient care including rounding and call coverage.

The planned rounding and call schedule is 1:4 with APPs taking first call.

Excellent multidisciplinary support is available from certified hematopathologists, blood bank, radiology, intensive care, and other specialists.

The addition of Dr. David Rizzieri, formerly of Duke University, to lead the Novant Health Cancer Institute places the successful candidate in a robust, growing team of cellular and immunotherapy researchers.

Novant Health has experienced tremendous growth over the past five years, especially in the Cancer Institute, expanding our footprint across the state.

A brand new multi‑million‑dollar Cancer Institute building in uptown Charlotte features an outpatient Cellular Therapy and Apheresis space with 12 HEPA‑filtered, monitored patient rooms for CART therapy.

A similar state‑of‑the‑art outpatient Cellular Therapy and Apheresis unit in Winston‑Salem has had construction approved and will begin soon, reflecting our commitment to clinical research and dedicated phase‑1 units at both sites.

Candidate Qualifications

Board‑certified or board‑eligible in Hematology and Medical Oncology.

Experience in hematopoietic cell transplantation and CART cell therapy.

Three years of post‑fellowship experience preferred, with a strong focus on patient care and optimizing outcomes through a curated clinical trial portfolio.

Expertise in managing patients with acute leukemia and allogeneic transplant.

Responsibilities & Duties

Patient population 18+ years.

Coordinate all aspects of stem cell transplant and CAR‑T/TIL therapy for the Derrick L. Davis Cancer Institute, the main component of the Novant Health Cancer Institute in Winston‑Salem.

Collaborate system‑wide with a multidisciplinary team to develop treatment algorithms and trial opportunities for patients needing autologous or allogeneic stem cell transplantation across the Novant system.
