Position Overview:
This Part‑Time Instructor teaches courses in the area of Criminal Justice. Courses may be taught in an array of teaching modalities: MDC In‑Person, MDC Live (Learning Interactively in a Virtual Environment), MDC Online (online delivery) and Blended Classes.
In accordance with Rule 6A‑14.064, F.A.C., College Credit Dual Enrollment Courses offered at secondary school locations, this position requires all candidates be employed by an authorized MDC Dual Enrollment secondary school partner. Candidates must meet Miami Dade College Faculty Credential Statement faculty teaching qualifications, including SACSCOC’s Principles of Accreditation minimum criteria: A Master’s degree in the teaching discipline of the assigned course(s) or a Master’s degree and at least 18 graduate credit hours in the teaching discipline of the assigned course(s).
What you will be doing
Provides classroom instruction
Participates in curriculum development and revision
Assesses the curriculum against state and national standards
Supervises field experiences and/or internship
Serves as a resource for faculty members and other program areas
Serves on school, campus and College committees
Recruits and advises students
Performs other duties as assigned
What you need to succeed
Master's degree in Criminal Justice, or Master's degree and 18 graduate semester hours in Criminal Justice from a regionally accredited institution
All educational degrees must be from a regionally accredited institution
Possess excellent communication skills (Verbal and Written)
Demonstrate ability to communicate effectively with students
Be able to work well with students, faculty, staff and the community
Ability to work a flexible schedule that may include evening and weekend assignments
Preferences
Teaching experience at college or community college level preferred
