IT Support Specialist - College of Fisheries and Ocean Sciences
Join the College of Fisheries and Ocean Sciences at the University of Alaska Southeast Sitka as an IT Support Specialist at our Lena Point facility in Juneau, Alaska. We need someone who enjoys troubleshooting, diagnosing, and resolving IT system issues.
About the Role As the Lena Point IT Support Specialist, you will be the first point of contact for users at Lena Point and around the world. Your responsibilities include:
Assisting new users with the installation and deployment of operating systems (primarily Windows and macOS) on desktop and laptop computers.
Performing routine maintenance for current users and lab systems.
Providing technical and training support for distance delivery systems.
Serving as a Service Desk IT support and web technical support for CFOS faculty, students, researchers, and staff at all CFOS sites and locations.
Minimum Qualifications
One year of college coursework in Information Technology, a related field, or equivalent training and experience.
Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record in compliance with UA Safe Driving criteria.
Legal authorization to work in the United States without restriction.
Proficiency with Google Suite, Zoom, and TeamViewer.
Position Details This is a full‑time, non‑exempt staff position located at the CFOS Lena Point facility in Juneau. The role offers a competitive salary and full employee benefits, including retirement, paid holidays, tuition waivers, and medical, dental, and vision coverage. New hires will be placed on the UA Staff Salary Schedule, Grade 76, based on education and experience.
