Raytheon is seeking a highly motivated Senior Research Engineer with experience in nanomaterials, ceramics, and/or MEMS processing to help design and provide proof‑of‑concept solutions for next‑generation high‑performance electro‑optic materials and subsystems.

Salary Range:
$82,000 – $164,000 (USD)
Primary Responsibilities
Develop and troubleshoot synthesis processes for nanomaterials and MEMS.
Perform trade studies, characterization studies, and other forms of analysis to predict component/system performance.
Plan and carry out high‑impact, complex engineering projects as directed.
Apply standard techniques across multiple disciplines under limited direction.
Work extensively with nanomaterials, acids, bases, and other chemicals in a laboratory environment.
Collaborate with external partners to strengthen existing research projects.
Explore topics beyond initial focus area and develop cross‑disciplinary skills when needed.
Contribute to the preparation of funded research proposals.
Basic Qualifications / Experience Requirements
5+ years of experience in relevant nano‑materials, chemistry, physics, material science engineering, or related field.
Expertise in nano‑material synthesis, fabrication, and/or applications.
Cleanroom experience and proficiency in test plan development.
Ability to develop and execute test plans and procedures.
Self‑motivated and capable of independent work while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams.
Initiative, innovation, positive attitude, and can‑do mindset.
Strong critical thinking, problem‑solving, and decision‑making skills.
Excellent presentation, organizational, verbal, and written communication abilities.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite.
U.S. citizenship and eligibility for a U.S. Secret security clearance.
Desired Qualifications
Laboratory experience with MEMS devices.
Proficiency with LabVIEW and COMSOL.
Background in laboratory equipment operation and measurement.
PhD or advanced degree with 3+ years of experience in a relevant field.
