Join to apply for the Brake Press Operator role at Powell. As a CNC Laser & Brake Press Operator, working on new product development, you will work individually or as part of a small team to program and machine parts for research and development projects and prototypes. You will be required to share knowledge with R&D Engineers, produce a variety of parts, all of which must meet the dimensional specifications of the mechanical engineering drawings. In addition, you will provide feedback on manufacturability of parts and offer suggestions that will lead to more robust and cost effective designs. An ideal candidate will be able to develop and execute the full machining process for complex parts from initial product design review through programming, tooling/fixturing and process verification to delivering parts. Responsibilities
Program, setup and operate CNC laser cutting machine to cut sheet metal and plate according to specification. Operate CNC brake press machines to bend, form, and shape metal parts with precision. Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and GD&T requirements. Select proper tooling, dies, and fixtures for assigned jobs. Inspect finished parts using calipers, micrometers, and other precision measuring tools to ensure quality and accuracy. Perform routine machine maintenance and troubleshooting. Maintain accurate records of production, including job travelers and inspection reports. Work closely with engineers and machinists to support prototyping and R&D needs. Follow all safety protocols and contribute to a clean, organized work environment. Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or vocational training preferred. 2+ years of experience operating CNC laser and/or brake press equipment. Strong knowledge of sheet metal fabrication, tolerances, and material properties. Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints. Proficient in the use of precision measurement tools. Strong problem-solving skills and mechanical aptitude. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment. The employee typically performs duties in a normal office environment. There may be some work in a manufacturing environment and exposure to the elements of the factory. Additionally, there may be some work performed in the field with exposure to construction sites or active customer facilities. Regularly required to use hands to touch, hold, handle, or feel. Frequently required to stand; walk; sit; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear.
