Software Engineering Director – Affera Mapping System

A Day in the Life As the Software Engineering Director, your role will be at the intersection of leadership and technical delivery. You will lead the Affera Mapping System software team, guiding a talented group of engineers in developing innovative features that automate, inform, and optimize cardiac ablation procedures. Your leadership will ensure the delivery of high‑quality, reliable software that is impactful for clinicians and patients.
The Affera Mapping System sits at the center of the Cardiac Ablation Solutions ecosystem. In this role, you will build and scale a high‑performing engineering organization that transforms the cardiac mapping and ablation space. Your curiosity, technical depth, and passion for elegant solutions will drive both team excellence and product innovation. You thrive in a highly collaborative, fast‑paced environment and can adapt to evolving needs, foster a culture of technical and operational excellence, and consistently deliver investigational, pre‑clinical, and commercial software releases.
We bring bold ideas forward with speed and decisiveness to put patients first in everything we do. In‑person exchanges are invaluable to our work. This role is onsite 4 days per week and requires less than 10% travel.
Responsibilities
Lead the development and delivery of the Affera Mapping System software roadmap, spanning new features, manufacturing support, and field deployment.
Provide strong technical leadership, including architectural guidance, code and design reviews, and mentorship of senior engineers.
Lead sustaining and deployment activities for the Mapping System, spanning manufacturing support, operating system integration, and field distribution of software packages.
Champion innovation and efficient transition of concepts from R&D to production, leveraging modern agile development, testing, and DevOps best practices.
Scale and develop engineering capacity to meet business objectives while cultivating a high‑performance, engaged, and inclusive team culture.
Partner with Quality and Regulatory teams to ensure full compliance with design controls, software lifecycle standards, and industry regulations.
Collaborate with cross‑functional teams, including hardware engineering, clinical research, product design, and marketing, to deliver integrated solutions that meet customer needs and business needs.
Minimum Requirements
Baccalaureate degree and minimum 10 years of relevant experience with 7+ years of managerial experience, or advanced degree with minimum 8 years of relevant experience and 7+ years of managerial experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Background in electrophysiology, cardiac ablation, or related medical device domains.
Track record of leading highly technical engineering and research teams, balancing deep technical guidance with organizational leadership to drive impactful product outcomes.
Expertise in software development within regulated environments, with mastery in disciplines such as embedded systems, product design, medical imaging, or computational geometry.
Experience with commercialization and post‑market support of medical devices or other embedded software/hardware products, including manufacturing support and software distribution fleet/inventory management.
Familiarity with cybersecurity practices, risk assessment, and vulnerability management within regulated environments.
Strong understanding of cross‑functional product development processes and demonstrated ability to deliver integrated solutions with multidisciplinary teams.
Exceptional leadership, communication, and organizational skills, with a proven ability to influence and align diverse stakeholders.

Benefits & Compensation Salary range for U.S. (excluding Puerto Rico): $202,400 – $303,600. Eligible for short‑term and long‑term incentive plans.
