Job Summary
Under general direction, provides clinical speech pathology services to the medical inpatients and outpatients, infants and children, at the Milton J Dance Rehabilitation Center at GBMC, and pediatric inpatient units.
Base Pay Range $29.19/hr - $47.85/hr
Qualifications
Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited college or university.
1 year directly related experience in a medical setting. Focus should include pediatric speech-language and pediatric swallowing disorders.
Advanced knowledge in speech pathology theories, practices, and techniques.
Skill in oral and written communication.
Ability to administer, score and interpret standardized speech, language and cognitive tests to delineate patient deficits, establish diagnosis, and develop treatment plans with progress documentation.
Certification of Clinical Competency in Speech-Language Pathology from the American Speech Language and Hearing Association and a State of Maryland License in Speech-Language Pathology.
Physical and Working Conditions
Audio-visual acuity to read small print and perform perceptual diagnostic assessments.
Ability to reach, stoop, crouch, walk and stand.
Clinical and office conditions.
Exposure to radiation monitored by a qualified laboratory.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
Evaluates and treats speech, language, cognitive, swallowing and voice disordered patients with neurologic etiology.
Provides evaluation and management for all patients with dysphagia. Evaluation techniques include clinical evaluation, Modified Barium Swallow and FEES.
Satisfies departmental clinical productivity requirements.
Participates in interdisciplinary patient care conferences.
Documents services rendered including written patient evaluation, reports and patient progress notes on patient’s chart.
Consults with other professionals as appropriate and generates appropriate referrals.
Conducts demonstrations and lectures within and outside the hospital.
Assist with cataloguing and interpreting of all video fluoroscopic swallowing studies within the department.
Conducts quality assurance studies in conjunction with the Speech Pathology Clinical Manager.
