Martin/Martin, Inc. is looking for a Survey Crew Chief to join our civil department in our Lakewood, Colorado office. This position is responsible for safety, training, quality, efficiency of their work, work of field personnel under their supervision, and care for vehicles and equipment in their possession. Represents company in field and to clients and business partners. Uses independent judgment to accomplish goals and standards set by the Survey Manager and/or direct supervisor.

Examples of Responsibilities Same as Survey Professional Surveyor, plus the following:
Takes charge in field of boundary, location, topo, construction, control, and specialized surveys
Returns comprehensive field notes, photographs, and written history of field survey to office
Reviews final drawings produced by survey technicians to ensure drawings are complete and accurate
Performs calculations necessary for construction staking and boundary analysis
Trains and supervises crew members
Other duties as assigned
Working Conditions / Skills / Abilities This position is primarily physical in nature and is continually exposed to outside weather, completing a wide range of activities summarized herein. The following abilities are required:
Move inside or outside the office and on non-ADA accessible construction sites
Walk, kneel, crawl, stoop, bend, and remain stationary for long periods of time
Repetitive movement on tasks such as using a keyboard or mouse
Identify color
Read, communicate, and document in English
Determine and exchange accurate information
Move or hold equipment weighing up to 50 pounds
Position self in atypical environments and small, confined areas
Required Qualifications Same as Survey Professional Surveyor, plus the following:
Graduation from High School or GED equivalent
Valid Colorado Driver's License and violation record acceptable to the company and its vehicle insurance carrier
Ability to drive short and long distances
4 years field experience in position of instrument person
Working knowledge of algebra, trigonometry, geometry, and geodetic control procedures
Desired Qualifications
Thorough knowledge of field practice and theory
Good working knowledge of general surveying principles and standards
Familiarity with equipment and methods, including duties of instrument person
Mastery of mathematics and geometry skills
Bachelor or Associate degree in survey or civil engineering technology
Land Surveyor Intern (LSI)
Professional Land Surveyors license (PLS)
