The Sales Training Director plays a key role in transforming AbbVie's franchise and brand strategies into comprehensive training programs that drive patient outcomes and financial performance. This leadership position oversees both direct and indirect teams, builds a robust talent pipeline, and ensures sales professionals have the clinical, selling, and business acumen to excel.

Main Areas of Responsibility

Strategic Vision: Deliver short- and long-term training vision, proactively identifying and responding to training needs that enhance sales effectiveness.

Strategic Alignment: Partner with Marketing, Sales Leadership, and other internal stakeholders to design, develop, and execute training initiatives that align with company objectives.

Enterprise Leadership: Model fiscal responsibility and allocate resources to maximize training impact, leveraging industry trends and research.

Team Development: Lead hiring and succession planning for the training organization, preparing staff for future roles.

Inclusive Leadership: Foster an inclusive environment that values diversity and promotes open dialogue across the team.

Innovation & Change Management: Champion data-driven change and innovation, collaborating across functions to drive organizational success.

Essential Skills and Abilities

Exceptional oral and written communication with executive audiences.

Advanced planning, project management, and analytical skills; well-versed in sales and marketing strategies.

Strategic problem‑solving with a proactive, solution‑oriented mindset.

Ability to make decisions that benefit the enterprise, including unpopular calls when needed.

Trusted advisor to leadership, offering actionable business insights beyond the core therapeutic area.

Qualifications Basic

Bachelor’s degree required.

10+ years of experience in sales, sales training, and leadership, or equivalent.

Proven management of large, field‑based, and in‑house training teams.

Experience navigating complex headquarters environments.

Demonstrated success in identifying and addressing training needs.

Strong motivational presence and proficiency in presenting to large audiences.

Hands‑on knowledge of effective selling skills.

Experience managing multiple products or business areas during expansions or launches.

Professional communication with senior leaders and matrixed teams.

Preferred

Master’s degree.

Marketing experience and/or experience leading marketing in a matrixed environment.

Leadership-level training experience with teams of seasoned trainers.

Location

Florham Park, New Jersey – On‑site, three days per week (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday).

Compensation & Benefits Competitively compensated with base, short‑term and long‑term incentive programs. Benefits include paid time off, health/dental/vision insurance, and 401(k) eligibility. Compensation ranges may vary by location and role.
