Summary Statement This employee supervises the daily operations of the Public Information Unit, which includes the Information Desk, mailroom, and serves as back‑up for the Filing & Payment Center when needed.

The Information Desk is centrally located in the lobby of the Leonard L. Williams Justice Center.

As one of the first points of Judicial Branch contact for the public, unit staff utilizes various information systems to guide visitors.

Unit staff also assists with the coordination of various civics education projects, including facilitating tours at the Justice Center for school groups and community organizations.

The mail room is responsible for sorting and delivering daily incoming and outgoing mail.

Additionally, this position oversees the coordination of the Administrative Office of the Court’s Limited Legal Assistance Program (LLAP) which offers legal consultation services to self‑represented litigants in Family Court.

This position will also serve as back‑up processing the Supreme Court appeals.

Essential Functions

Ensures that each area of operation is properly staffed, adhering to all AOC internal policies and procedures and makes sure that excellent customer service is provided to the courts, legislators, and the public.

Plan, assigns, reviews, and evaluates the work assignments of subordinate.

Determine the training needs in that area and organizes the necessary training once approved. Ensuring compliance with AOC policies and procedures, and federal and state law, and regulations.

Coordinate and assist with the Limited Legal Assistance Program.

Assess and analyze the client’s needs and schedule appointments with an attorney.

Serves as back‑up for the Supreme Court Appeal process.

Reviews the Supreme Court applications for missing information and documentation before submission.

Assists Filing & Payment Center as needed.

Review and verify bank deposits in supervisor’s absence.

Assigns staff to do the daily bank run accompanied by Capital Police.

Provides assistance on specialized projects to support DE Judicial where extra support is needed.

Job Requirements

Experience in staff supervision which includes planning, assigning, reviewing, and evaluating the work of others.

Experience in tracking and reporting statistical data.

Experience in coordinating administrative operations or functions such as coordinating organizational operations or components of functional programs, tracking workflow and resolving problems, providing guidance and consultation to management, customers, and others on administrative matters.

Experience in health and human services support which includes interviewing clients and assessing personal, health, social, financial, or legal needs in accordance with program requirements; may coordinate with community resources to obtain client services.

Ability to communicate courteously and effectively, both verbally and in writing.

Conditions of Hire

A satisfactory criminal background check is required as a condition of hire.

Direct deposit of paychecks is required as a condition of hire.
