Overview Herzog Contracting Corp. is currently seeking a Payroll Specialist in St. Joseph, MO to join our team.

Duties and Responsibilities This is a non-exhaustive overview of the job duties for this position.

Responsible for the accurate compensation of employees through the payroll process.

Ensures computing, withholding, or deductions associated with net pay is compliant with current regulations.

Responsible for tax reporting and transfer of funds to federal, state, and local agencies as necessary.

Update records by reviewing and entering changes in exemptions, benefits, deductions, work status, and paid-time-off recordkeeping.

Maintains employee confidence and protects payroll operations by keeping information confidential.

Regular and consistent engagement, participation and promotion of Herzog's Culture and its essential behaviors are a requirement for this position.

Regular and predictable attendance and punctuality are a requirement for this position.

Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

High School diploma or equivalent.

Bachelor's degree with emphasis in business administration, finance, or accounting, preferred.

1+ years of experience in payroll processing.

Knowledge of Federal, State, and Local payroll laws and regulations.

Experience with union collective bargaining agreements as they relate to pay processes and benefits.

Skilled at analyzing information, attention to detail, maintain confidentiality and thoroughness in completing tasks.

Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products such Excel and Word, inventory software, and the Internet.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Strong organization skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Pre-Employment Requirements

Subject to pre-employment background check and motor vehicle report review.

Subject to pre-employment physical, medical evaluation, and drug screen.

Successfully complete and maintain any required safety certification and testing on an annual basis.

Frequently sits for extended periods of time.
