This is a certified law enforcement position for the Kansas Racing and Gaming Commission at the Kansas Crossing Casino (PITTSBURG).

Job Responsibilities

Monitors gaming activity by developing informants and observing gaming activities and employees. Conducts on-site investigations and inspections of electronic gaming devices and other equipment. Observes authorized and unauthorized individuals in different areas of the facility. Conducts on-site internal control audits and compliance inspections and investigations.

Conducts background investigations including credit and criminal history records checks on applicants for licensure, utilizing interviewing and interrogation techniques that include reviewing financial statements and analyzing financial positions of individuals. Compiles and completes background investigations sent to the Commission for licensing determination.

Investigates complaints of alleged violations of the Expanded Lottery Act, including regulatory violations and criminal violations. Drafts reports to document and communicate investigative findings by assembling information gained through investigations and interviews.

Make arrests, conducts searches and seizures and generally enforces all Kansas criminal laws. Appears and testifies as a witness in court or administrative hearings. Coordinates criminal investigations and undercover investigations. Works with local, state and federal law enforcement agencies to coordinate investigations and prosecution.

Assists the Topeka office in the investigation of white-collar crime and illegal gambling investigations. Helps with the service of search warrants and seizing evidence related to these investigations. Compiles reports and testifies in court regarding the investigations.

Minimum Qualifications

Kansas law enforcement certification is required. Applicant must be a graduate of KLETC or a program recognized by KLETC.

Firearms certification each year by the Kansas Law Enforcement Training Academy or designated representative.

Necessary Special Requirements

Must be a United States citizen and at least 21 years of age. Must complete a basic law enforcement training program recognized by the Kansas Law Enforcement Training Commission and obtain certification as a law enforcement officer from the commission before being given permanent status. At time of appointment, candidate must take and pass a drug screening test approved by the Division of Personnel Services and be required to pass a physical and psychological exam. This position requires the use of a firearm for law enforcement duties and therefore, candidates cannot have been convicted of, and must be free of any diversions from, a felony or misdemeanor domestic violence crime.

The successful candidate must be able to pass an extensive background investigation, drug screening and polygraph.

Preferred Qualifications

One (1) year of criminal investigative experience as a commissioned law enforcement officer within the past five years.

Three (3) years of general law enforcement experience.

Use of a computer terminal to access KCJIS / NCIC information.

Knowledge in interviewing suspects, victims and witnesses in criminal investigations.

Coordinate investigations with other agents, other law enforcement / regulatory agencies and prosecutors.

Post-Offer, Pre-employment Requirements

The successful candidate must be able to pass an extensive background investigation, polygraph, and pass a drug screening approved by the State of Kansas Office of Personnel Services.

Submit a Kansas Tax Clearance Certificate within 10 days of conditional offer of employment.
