Training Supervisor
Job Summary
Seeking an expert Training Supervisor to command our hands‑on training programs. This role is key in transforming our employees into skilled professionals of bus construction, from the initial chassis prep to the final road test. You will be responsible for developing and delivering training that ensures every team member can safely and efficiently perform complex assembly tasks, operate specialized machinery, and uphold our stringent quality standards.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Manufacturing Process Training: Design and conduct hands‑on training for all stages of the bus assembly line, including:
Steel cage framing and MIG welding.
Chassis modification and component integration.
Installation of composite (fiberglass) and aluminum body panels.
Complex electrical harness routing and connection.
Installation of interior components like flooring, seating, and driver controls.
Final finish and quality inspection processes.
Equipment and Tooling Expertise: Instruct employees on the safe and proper operation of specialized equipment, such as plasma cutters, metal brakes, shears, and a wide variety of pneumatic and power assembly tools.
EHS & Cal/OSHA Compliance: Partner with the EHS department to deliver safety‑critical training mandated by Cal/OSHA Title 8. Ensure all training modules for equipment and processes incorporate our Injury and Illness Prevention Program (IIPP), Lockout/Tagout, and proper PPE usage.
Blueprint and Schematic Interpretation: Train employees to accurately read and interpret complex vehicle assembly blueprints, work orders, and electrical schematics.
Performance and Quality Oversight: Supervise and mentor employees on the production floor during training, providing immediate feedback to improve technique, ensure quality, and reinforce safety protocols.
Documentation and Reporting: Maintain precise and compliant training records for all employees. Track training progress and competency to identify skill gaps and inform production management.
Qualifications and Skills Required
A minimum of 3 years of experience in a training or leadership role within a heavy vehicle manufacturing environment (e.g., bus, heavy truck, RV, or specialty vehicle assembly).
Demonstrated hands‑on expertise with the tools, equipment, and processes used in vehicle fabrication and assembly.
Proven ability to read and interpret complex mechanical blueprints and electrical schematics.
Exceptional presentation and communication skills, with a talent for making complex technical information easy to understand.
High school diploma or GED.
Preferred
A strong background in Safety and working knowledge of Cal/OSHA manufacturing standards.
Bilingual in English and Spanish is highly preferred.
ASE (Automotive Service Excellence) certifications are a plus.
“Train‑the‑Trainer” certification.
Prior experience in a direct supervisory role within a manufacturing setting.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
Must be able to work in a busy bus manufacturing plant, which includes exposure to loud noises, dust, and fluctuating temperatures.
The role requires significant time on the production floor, including standing, walking, climbing into bus chassis, and demonstrating physical tasks.
Must be able to lift and carry materials and equipment up to 50 pounds.
The use of company‑mandated Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including steel‑toed boots, safety glasses, and hearing protection, is mandatory.
