Education and/or Other Requirements: Master’s degree in Speech and Language Pathology. Licensed or license pending in the State of Illinois without previous disciplinary action in Illinois or any other state, and Certified Clinical Competence Achieved. New graduates with clinical competence accepted. Current CPR card. Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Knowledge of principles, methods, and procedures for diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of physical and mental dysfunctions. Knowledge of human behavior and performance; individual differences in ability, personality, and interests; learning and motivation. Knowledge of principles and methods for curriculum and training design, teaching and instruction for individuals and groups, and the measurement of training effects as it pertains to the clinical instruction of students. Knowledge of group behavior and dynamics, societal trends and influences, ethnicity, cultures and their history and origins. Knowledge of the information and techniques needed to evaluate and treat human injuries, diseases, and deformities. This includes symptoms, treatment alternatives, drug properties and interactions, and preventive health-care measures. Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction. Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar. Knowledge of Human anatomy, physiology, and pathology. Knowledge of laws and government regulations as they apply to State and National standards. Public Safety and Security — Knowledge of relevant equipment, policies, procedures, and strategies to promote effective local, state, or national security operations for the protection of people, data, property, and institutions. Good knowledge of the standard practices, equipment and rules relating to word processing, written and oral communications. Good working knowledge and ability to perform basic computer skills such as but limited to word processing, data entry, and documentation. Ability to listen attentively, understand points made, ask questions appropriately, and avoid interruptions. Uses logic and reasoning to identify strengths and weaknesses of solutions or approaches. Actively seeks ways to assist colleagues and other departments. Understands implications of new information for current and future problem-solving and decision-making. Considers costs and benefits of actions to choose the most appropriate. Communicates clearly and concisely in writing and verbally with physicians, team members, patients, and families.
