Human Resources Generalist Overview The Human Resources Generalist is responsible for a broad range of activities to support the wider organization. This role requires applying best HR practices aligned with organizational policies and standards in a fast‑paced environment with multiple priorities. The successful candidate will maintain a high level of professionalism and confidentiality while meeting the needs of employees and managers.

Responsibilities

Perform routine tasks required in support of all HR programs including compensation, benefits, leave, disputes and investigations, performance and talent management, recognition and morale, records management, and training and development.

Handle employment‑related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff.

Conduct or acquire background checks and employee eligibility verifications.

Attend and participate in employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations.

Assist with benefits administration including open enrollment and providing information to employees on inquiries.

Assist with health, welfare, and other benefit programs by determining eligibility, completing enrollments and life‑event changes, communicating to employees, submitting claim forms, and resolving claim issues.

Develop an excellent working knowledge of company policies and effectively administer new and modified policies.

Support employee and organizational developmental programs and engagement goals.

Assist with employee relations concerns as they arise, including FMLA and ADA administration.

Implement and develop new‑hire orientation and employee recognition programs to support overall engagement.

Review, track, and document compliance with mandatory and non‑mandatory training, continuing education, and work assessments, including safety, anti‑harassment, professional licensure, and aptitude exams.

Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, reviewing policies and practices to uphold best practices.

Maintain knowledge of HR trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies.

Act as the primary point of contact on special projects as needed.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Business and 5 years of direct HR experience required; or an equivalent combination of experience and education.

Ability to use resources effectively and propose logical solutions.

Strong organizational skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.

Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict‐resolution skills.

Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.

Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.

Thorough knowledge of employment‑related laws and regulations.

Strong combination of administration, communication, coordination, and organization skills.

Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn HR information systems (HRIS).

Proficiency with Microsoft Office or related software.

SHRM‑CP or PHR desired.

Work Environment and Physical Demands This is an office position in a climate‑controlled environment. Employees routinely sit, read, work on a computer, and watch a screen for extended periods.
