Overview The Florida Office of Insurance Regulation (OIR) regulates the state’s largest and most complex insurance market. With approximately 250 staff, OIR seeks applicants who can support a competitive insurance market through detailed financial analysis and regulatory oversight. This non‑remote, on‑site position offers competitive benefits, including health, dental, vision, retirement, and paid leave.

Brief Description of Duties and Responsibilities The role belongs to OIR’s Analysis Unit and focuses on assessing the solvency of authorized insurers. Responsibilities include in‑depth financial and operational analysis of organizations, interpretation of annual and quarterly statements, and recommendation of actions to address financial or regulatory deficiencies.

Perform detailed financial analysis of state‑domestic and putting companies with an emphasis on mid‑size holding groups.

Analyze schedules, exhibits, and reinsurance components per Financial Service Commission and NAIC standards.

Incorporate information from company filings, internal and external sources, and NAIC tools.

Prepare, organize, and write reports on firm solvency, risk, and compliance.

Communicate with company executives and regulatory staff on findings and potential actions.

Maintain insurer profile summaries (IPS/GPS) and monitor compliance with capital and reporting requirements.

Provide oversight and prioritize workload using OIR performance expectations.

Support administrative projects and coordinate with regulatory functions to eliminate duplication.

Engage in continuous learning and training to enhance financial analysis capabilities.

Act as team leader in the supervisor’s absence and represent OIR at public functions as directed.

Perform other duties as required.

Education and/or Experience Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business, risk management, insurance, or actuarial science. Preference for experience in insurance regulation, financial analysis, or public accounting.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in insurance (regulatory, actuarial, or analytical) with industry specialization.

Relevant designations such as CFE, APIR, PIR, or CPCU.

Proficiency in MS Office, particularly Word and Excel, and electronic work‑paper tools.

Minimum Qualifications

Strong written and oral communication skills.

In depth understanding of insurance operations, risk management, and transaction flows.

Analytical ability to synthesize financial data and apply state laws, GAAP, and NAIC accounting practices.

Capability to manage multiple projects, adapt to changing expectations, and make timely decisions.

Proficient in electronic record‑keeping tools.

Salary:

$59,000 per year Pay Cycle:

Monthly
