Transport Aide, Full Time, Days, Jackson South M.C. Transport Aide moves patient(s) from and within the Emergency Care Center to patient care areas, including Urgent Care Center, Radiology and inpatient units by transport vehicle in a safe and efficient manner, using proper body mechanics according to the age‑specific needs of patients. Provides additional services that support the delivery of care to patients.

Location: Miami, FL. Employment Type: Full‑time.

Responsibilities

Report to area and charge nurse as assigned.

Pick up and deliver patients using transport vehicle, according to age‑specific needs.

Transport patients to and from inpatient, outpatient or emergency areas as well as diagnostic, therapeutic or research procedures.

Observe patients on stretchers and assist with bathroom needs.

Communicate with charge nurse to receive assignment and/or patient transport information.

Cleans transport vehicles and notify supervisor of needed repairs.

Receive and deliver charts, requisitions, various reports and medical records; obtain signatures on forms as required.

Deliver personal belongings of patients.

Receive and deliver supplies, specimens, medications and equipment when requested.

Log transportation requests and total the number of trips at the end of each shift.

Provide on-the-job training to new employees as assigned.

Transport deceased patients to the morgue as assigned.

Assist with stocking and distribution of supplies and equipment when required.

Maintain a professional appearance by conforming to dress code.

Prepare stretchers for use by cleaning with the appropriate solution and placing clean linen on the stretcher.

Keep work station clean and orderly.

Follow and perform all related unit-specific policies and procedures as detailed on the unit-specific competency checklist.

Utilize job and unit-specific equipment as required.

Demonstrate behaviors of service excellence and CARE values (Compassion, Accountability, Respect, and Expertise).

Perform all other related job duties as assigned.

Experience Generally requires 0 to 3 years of related experience.

Education High School diploma is strongly preferred.

Skills

Ability to understand and follow instructions.

Credentials

American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) and any additional applicable life-support certification for Healthcare Providers required upon hire, with at least 6 months validity and maintenance at JHS for the duration of employment.

Unit Specific Credential: FL-BLS.

Working Conditions Physical Requirements

– Job function requires extended standing or walking. Must be able to carry objects weighing 21 to 50 pounds. Able to lift or move objects weighing 51 to 100 pounds with the use of appropriate devices. Frequent visual acuity required for computer activities. Reasonable accommodation provisions will be provided by the home unit/department in collaboration with the Reasonable Accommodations Committee (RAC).

Environmental Conditions

– Function in a fast‑paced environment with occasional high‑pressure or emergent situations. Frequent interaction with a diverse population. Exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, medicinal preparations and other hospital conditions. Potential exposure to needle sticks, airborne infections, medical gases, X‑ray, chemical exposures. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) required when exposed to infectious/clinical environment.
