Pacific Oaks Children’s School

– An interactive, play‑based early‑childhood program serving children ages six months to six years. Founded seventy years ago, the school emphasizes progressive philosophy, anti‑bias education, emergent curriculum, and peaceful conflict resolution.

Position:

Substitute Teacher (Early Childhood) – Part‑time, based in

Pasadena, CA .

Responsibilities

Take direction from the lead teacher; follow the lead of other teachers and mirror their style and tone of interaction with children.

Help set up, manage, and clean up the physical classroom and outdoor spaces as requested.

Supervise children to ensure they are safe and use equipment appropriately.

Assist with diapering and/or toileting children.

Facilitate problem‑solving, conflict resolution, and redirect behavior in a kind, developmentally appropriate manner as needed.

Demonstrate respect for children, parents, and colleagues.

Qualifications

Meet basic requirements to work in an early childhood program.

Be at least 18 years of age with, at a minimum, a high school diploma.

Possess a minimum of 12 Early Childhood Education units.

Have prior experience working with young children in a school program.

Successfully complete a fingerprint and background check.

Be physically able to run, walk, bend, climb, sit on the floor with children, and lift up to 40 lbs. to ensure safe participation.
