Job Description Primary leadership responsibility is to create an uplifting and friendly customer experience through exceptional service. You will interview, train, evaluate performance, reward and coach associates while exemplifying Kroger’s core values of respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion, and safety.
Responsibilities
Establish an uplifting work environment that allows associates to feel valued, appreciated, and engaged.
Empower associates to create a simple, fresh, and inspired shopping experience for every customer.
Prioritize and plan work activities, using time efficiently.
Identify and resolve problems promptly by gathering and analyzing information skillfully and developing alternate solutions.
Communicate company, department, and job‑specific information to associates, including updates from board meetings and huddles.
Ensure new associates are properly oriented and understand the benefits of working in this role.
Commit to the company’s customer and associate promise and support the Customer 1st team.
Delegate work assignments matching associate responsibility, giving clear direction and monitoring progress.
Consistently be on time for work and meetings, ensuring responsibilities are covered when absent.
Execute all action plans and daily priorities, including performance goals and best practices.
Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines.
Reinforce safety programs by complying with safety procedures, identifying unsafe conditions, and notifying store management.
Remain current with present, future, seasonal, and special ads.
Promote corporate brands to customers, ensuring associates are educated.
Manage the scheduling of Deli associates to provide adequate coverage.
Provide appropriate, actionable feedback to help teams and individuals grow.
Help associates identify how their work aligns with key store initiatives.
Clearly and consistently communicate store and department priorities and goals, recognizing progress.
Maintain and explain product knowledge to ensure associates and customers have necessary resources.
Create and execute sales promotions in partnership with store management.
Monitor and control supply expenses for the department.
Assist store management in preparing the store/department budget and conducting profit and loss reviews.
Take appropriate action on all financial reports.
Develop and implement a department business plan to achieve desired results.
Supervise and coach Deli associates, complete performance reviews, provide feedback, and reward associates.
Work cooperatively in a high‑paced, sometimes stressful environment.
Manage conflict in a reasonable, nonconfrontational and cooperative manner.
Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
Follow directions and seek assistance when necessary to resolve issues.
Provide support and assistance through direct interaction with minors, individuals with special needs, and/or older adults.
Must be able to perform the essential functions of this position with or without reasonable accommodations.
Qualifications
Effective communication/customer service skills.
Knowledge of basic math.
Ability to handle stressful situations.
Ability to lead other associates.
