We are seeking a Senior Accountant who will bring expertise, precision, and leadership to our growing finance team. The Senior Accountant will be responsible for ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting, maintaining compliance with healthcare and hospice-specific accounting standards, and supporting operational decision-making through financial insights. This role requires a strong understanding of healthcare revenue recognition, cost reporting, and regulatory compliance in the hospice sector.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for the hospice division. Perform detailed account reconciliations, journal entries, and month-end close activities. Ensure compliance with GAAP, healthcare regulations, and hospice-specific reporting requirements (including Medicare/Medicaid cost reporting, if applicable). Support budgeting and forecasting processes in partnership with operational leaders. Monitor accounts receivable, payables, and revenue cycle accounting, ensuring accurate recognition of hospice revenues and costs. Partner with auditors and external consultants during annual audits and compliance reviews. Analyze trends in expenses, reimbursements, and operational performance to provide actionable insights. Mentor junior team members and contribute to continuous process improvement across the finance function. Assist with systems implementations or enhancements, particularly in healthcare accounting or ERP tools.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or CMA preferred). 4–6+ years of progressive accounting experience; healthcare or hospice industry strongly preferred. Strong knowledge of GAAP; familiarity with healthcare revenue recognition and cost reporting. Experience with healthcare accounting systems, ERP, or revenue cycle platforms. Strong Excel and financial modeling skills. Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities. Strong communication skills with the ability to partner effectively with finance and non-finance stakeholders.

Physical requirements for this role include the ability to work at a computer terminal with monitor, keyboard and mouse for extended periods of time, stoop, bend, and reach for equipment and supplies, make frequent repetitive motions required to operate a computer that include the wrists, hands and fingers, and lift, carry, push, pull, and move light objects up to 20 pounds. The role also requires the ability to effectively communicate through verbal interactions, discern auditory information, and visually perceive details to perform essential job functions.
