In relation to contributing to our college's mission and goals, under the direct supervision of our leadership team, this role provides numerous services that assist students and graduates in obtaining employment. The three major functions of Career Services are Employment, Externship or Certification Track, and Career Services Skill Development, while serving both employers and students. Associates work with students before graduation to prepare them for the practical application of their skills and entering the job market. Sales standards and metric goals are set for every function of the Career Services role to achieve employment start outcomes through our activity‑based management system.

Compensation:

The starting pay range for this position is $25.00 - $29.00 per hour.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Conduct employer and job development sales activities such as employer calls and site visits.

Meet and exceed daily, weekly, and modular activity goals to achieve modular employment start goals.

Maintain relationships with students and graduates to ensure appropriate interaction with employers.

Attend business functions, trade shows, and professional organizations’ meetings for networking and employer development.

Externship & Certification Tracking

Contact potential sites for the development of new student externship opportunities.

Coordinate and supervise the externship process, providing midterm review to increase extern to hire opportunity.

Administer all externship presentations.

Support monitoring of attendance and performance of the student on externship.

Monitor graduates as they complete licensure to maintain connections and provide support to gain employment.

Career Services Skill Development

Provide support to help students prepare resumes, employment search strategies, and interview techniques.

Partner with students in job search strategies and coaching that leads to employability.

Conduct career skill workshops on a variety of career topics such as resume, interviewing, and professionalism.

Operational

Adhere to all compliance and performance standards related to employment start confirmations, metric activities, and student interaction documentation.

Maintain timely and accurate documentation of physical and electronic records.

Support campus goals and initiatives by supporting activities, events, and graduation ceremonies.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required:

Education and Experience:

Associate or bachelor’s degree preferred; three years of job development, career services, or agency recruiting experience required.

Language Skills:

Ability to read, comprehend, and write simple correspondence; present information effectively in one‑on‑one and small group settings.

Mathematical Skills:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, divide, compute ratios and percentages, and interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Ability:

Apply common sense for detailed written or oral instructions; handle problems with concrete variables.

Computer Skills:

Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, Outlook) and mastery of proprietary software used to maintain student records.

Physical Demands Employee is required to sit, use hands to handle or feel, reach, talk, and hear regularly. Frequently required to walk; occasionally required to stand, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, and occasionally up to 25 pounds.

Work Environment The work environment has a moderate noise level. Employees will encounter moderate levels of interpersonal interaction and occasional travel to partnership sites.
