WashU's Division of Student Affairs seeks a sports performance professional for the position of Assistant Coach, Sports Performance. The Division of Student Affairs advances the educational mission of the university through resources and experiences outside the classroom that prepare our students for lifelong success. The Assistant Sports Performance Coach will serve as the primary sports performance coach for select varsity sport teams; responsible for the program development, instruction and coaching for those sport programs in an effort to prepare them physically and mentally to compete safely and successfully for conference and national titles. This person will also assist the Sports Performance Head Coach in the setup and maintenance of the Varsity Weight Room and general operation of the Sports Performance program. Primary Duties & Responsibilities

Serve as the primary sports performance coach for select varsity sport teams, to be assigned by Head Coach of Sports Performance. Develops and monitors sports performance programs for assigned varsity teams. Learns and teaches sports performance programs to assigned teams. Directs fitness testing/evaluations, computation of results and evaluation of individual student-athletes. Teaches proper lifting technique and assists in spotting. Effectively and properly motivates student-athletes. Communicates and collaborates with Varsity coaching staff regarding sports performance for their teams. Assists the Sports Performance Head Coach in the setup and maintenance of the Varsity Weight Room and general operation of the Sports Performance program. Prepares the room for team training. Assists with general maintenance and cleaning of the facility and its equipment. Maintains current certification through the National Strength and Conditioning Association as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS). Makes a daily effort to improve knowledge of scientific and practical applications of strength and conditioning concepts and engages in continuing professional development. Anticipates potential injury risks and takes measures to remove them; in the event of injury, implements emergency medical procedures. Perform other duties as assigned. Required Qualifications

Required Qualifications

Current CPR, AED and First Aid certifications. Preferred Qualifications

Proficiency with TeamBuildr, Perch, Microsoft and Google programs (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams). Broad-based experience developing strength and conditioning programs for a variety of sports, including for both male and female athletes. Strong leadership skills. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Strong organizational skills. Strong judgment and risk management skills. Broad knowledge of various sports. Demonstrated competency in helping to meet program objectives, working independently, supervising others, and helping to establish program priorities. An ability to communicate with and interact positively with students, faculty, staff, and the broader University community. Fluency in use of computers and technology. Ability to develop a safe, functional, and welcoming working environment. Ability to develop and implement team training programs. An appreciation of, and a willingness to adhere to, NCAA Division III rules and regulations. Ability to follow directions and accept decisions. Preferred Qualifications
