Electric Systems Line Technician III - Overhead

The purpose of this position is to provide effective and reliable service. This is primarily accomplished by locating, installing, testing, repairing, monitoring, and maintaining overhead and assist with underground power distribution lines and equipment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Assist supervisor in training on safety, operation, equipment, and procedures to perform daily work on electrical systems.
Assist supervisor with paperwork and logs of daily truck reports, job briefings, work orders, and material used for jobs.
Locates, installs, tests, repairs, monitors, and maintains overhead and assists with underground electric systems, facilities, and equipment in order to provide uninterrupted service to customers.
Does work on three and single phase primary overhead and assists with underground electrical equipment.
Performs work on energized high voltage circuits from bucket truck or climbs wooden and steel poles as required.
Supplemental Functions:
Performs other similar duties as required.
Job Specifications and Qualifications: Knowledge:
Electric transmission and distribution systems principles and practices
Installation of electric transmission and distribution systems and components
Materials or products used for electric systems
How to operate line and bucket trucks, tractors and skid steer
Test equipment and hand and power tools and locator equipment
Proper safety policies and procedures
Applicable local, state, and federal laws, rules, and regulations
Licensing and Certifications:
Valid State issued Driver’s License
Ability to obtain Valid North Carolina Class A Commercial Driver's License. Failure to obtain within six (6) months of hire may result in termination.
Ability to obtain C.P.R. and First Aid Certification. Failure to obtain within six (6) months of hire may result in termination.
Ability to demonstrate proficiently Pole Top Rescue and Bucket Rescue; failure to demonstrate proficiently within 6 months of date of hire may result in termination.

Applicants must meet the City criteria for an acceptable driving record.
Working Conditions / Physical Requirements:
Position requires: standing, fine dexterity, walking, lifting, carrying, sitting, reaching, handling, kneeling, crawling, pushing/pulling, climbing, vision, foot controls, balancing, bending, crouching, hearing, twisting, talking.
Heavy work: Exerting 50 - 100 pounds occasionally, 25 - 50 pounds frequently, or from 10 up to 20 pounds constantly.
Incumbent may be subjected to extreme temperature, wetness and/or humidity, respiratory hazards, noise and vibration, and physical hazards.
