Schedule Monday – Friday; 9:00 am – 6:00 pm, or as needed
General Job Description As a Project Accountant, you will support the Project Controller with all aspects of project accounting and reporting, including accounts payable / receivable, taxes, budgeting, and product costing. Perform all essential functions and responsibilities in accordance with AOA’s values and in alignment with our policies.
Responsibilities
Assist Project Controller with all financial related aspects of project portfolio including financial procedures and controls, financial period close, and report preparation, analysis, variance reporting and presentation
Work directly with project management teams with predevelopment exercises including bid reviews and buyout processes
Responsible for managing project budgets, adjustments, EFC tracking and commitments
Recognize and report on financial risks / opportunities and trend analysis
Report on budget versus actuals, labor, and other ad hoc reports for projects within portfolio on a weekly or monthly basis
Exercise regular reviews of the risk / buyout logs, contingency use, fund transfers, owner furnished materials and related tax strategies
Support Accounting team with preparation of month end client invoices including fee build-up and additional documentation in alignment with client contracts, (including reconciliation of expense report details)
Maintain positive and informative relationships with internal clients, vendors, and contractors to uphold the reputation of the owner and owner’s representatives
Review and process project invoices and contract payment applications for approval hierarchy, cost coding, contract compliance, payment milestones, confirm capital versus expense, validate integrity of the schedule of values, field approvals, necessary submittals in accordance with contract requirements including but not limited to statutory lien waivers
Ensure compliance with project controls and assist in developing more efficient procedures and use of resources
Project cashflow requirement for assigned projects
Other project duties as assigned
Qualifications
4+ years of project Accounting and Finance experience in a project-based accounting environment
Working knowledge of U.S. GAAP and key principles of application for a wide array of finance and accounting areas
Ability to work independently as well as in a team, combined with developed analytical and communication skills
Advanced MS Excel, modeling and data management skills are critical; experience with Deltek Vantagepoint software; familiarity with other project management software products is a plus
Flexible and creative, with ability to learn new and complex concepts quickly
Resourceful and diligent
