Responsibilities The Teaching Assistant will support classroom teachers in delivering high-quality educational experiences for children in a preschool or public school setting. Responsibilities include assisting with classroom management, preparing instructional materials, and providing individualized support to students, especially those with special needs. The Teaching Assistant fosters a nurturing and inclusive learning environment, collaborates with teachers and staff, and contributes to the overall development and success of students.
Additional duties include:
Oversees the implementation of the daily program under the direction of the teacher.
Works with individual pupils or groups of pupils on special instructional projects.
Provides the teacher with information about pupils that will assist the teacher in developing appropriate learning experiences.
Assists pupils in the use of available instructional resources.
Works closely with teachers, specialists, and other school staff to support student learning and development, sharing insights and strategies to address individual student needs.
Assists in preparing, organizing, and distributing educational materials such as worksheets, art supplies, and educational games to support lesson plans.
Helps maintain a positive and organized classroom environment by managing student behavior, implementing classroom rules, and supporting transitions between activities.
Maintains confidentiality about children, their families, and other employees outside the school.
Follows directions given by the teacher or immediate supervisor.
Builds positive relationships based on respect for others, maintains effective communication with peers, school district personnel, therapists, and families.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Bilingual Teaching Assistant (English/Spanish) Preferred:
Assist with providing opportunities for students and parents to access content and information in their home language (including verbal and written translation).
Qualifications The Teaching Assistant must:
Be at least 18 years of age.
Hold a high school diploma.
Have at least 1 year of experience in child care/development.
Possess a valid Teaching Assistant Certification.
Preferred:
Bilingual (English/Spanish).
