Legal Counsel – Regulatory Compliance

A specialty insurance company is seeking a Regulatory Counsel to join their team. This is a full-time, hybrid position requiring two days per week in the office.
Responsibilities
Monitor legislative and regulatory changes (U.S. and Canada) related to data privacy, cybersecurity, AI, and insurance compliance; advise internal teams accordingly. Draft responses to regulatory complaints, subpoenas, lawsuits, and other legal requests; coordinate with internal departments and support litigation strategy. Advise on regulatory updates impacting claims, brokers, and licensing; support implementation and regulator submissions. Maintain compliance with Canadian insurance licensing requirements and provide legal guidance on related issues. Conduct legal research, draft contracts and legal documents, and provide written/verbal legal opinions. Manage external counsel and liaise with regulators to ensure effective and cost-efficient legal support. Develop training materials and reports for internal committees; support ad hoc legal and regulatory projects. Qualifications
