Position Overview
Senior Accountant Temporary at Exxel Outdoors, headquartered in Broomfield, CO. This is a temporary, fast‑paced position reporting to the Interim Controller. The role focuses on day‑to‑day general ledger operations and monthly close activities in accordance with GAAP. The Senior Accountant will prepare financial statements and statistical reports, support the audit process, and contribute to ad‑hoc reporting and process improvements.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Maintain inventory month‑end reconciliations and commission reporting, including freight, duty, and other inventory cycle components.
Complete account reconciliations on a timely basis.
Assist in preparing financial statements and statistical reports as required.
Support the financial statement audit process, including preparation of audit workpapers.
Maintain standard month‑end reconciliations for banks, fixed assets, sub‑ledger GL associations, and supporting schedules for assets and liabilities.
Execute royalty accrual and remittance calculations.
Calculate and maintain commission accruals.
Develop and comply with accounting procedures, systems, and practices; propose and implement process improvements.
Prepare ad‑hoc reporting for management and operations.
Ensure accuracy and completeness of financial information for assigned areas.
Maintain GAAP compliance, including revenue recognition rules.
Qualifications
BS degree in accounting with at least 4 years of relevant experience.
Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, V‑lookups, macros).
Working knowledge of GAAP.
Experience with consumer goods inventories is a plus.
Proficient in month‑end and quarter‑end close processes.
Experience with Microsoft Dynamics BC 25 or similar ERP is desirable.
Strong multitasking and research abilities.
Team player with a strong work ethic, outgoing personality, and a "can‑do" attitude.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Supervisory Responsibilities None.
Work Environment Collaborative, open‑space office on the first floor of a 40,000 sq. ft. facility in Broomfield. The team shares a common desk area with views of the Flatirons and includes amenities such as a workout facility, quiet phone booths, and a large employee breakroom.
Physical Demands Standing, walking, sitting, hand use, reaching, and speaking or hearing are common. Frequent stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling may be required. Lifting or moving up to 25 lbs occasionally.
Vision: close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and focus adjustment required.
