The ideal candidate will have a BSN Degree with at least two years of ICU and Medical/Surgical experience. This unit has both shifts available, 7am-7pm and 7pm-7am with rotating weekends and holidays.
MD Anderson offers our nurses:
Three 12 hour shifts per week, 1872 hours per year (minimum)
$8,320 annual inpatient differential, paid $346.67 per paycheck
Paid employee medical benefits (zero premium) starting on first day
Minimum 24.5 days paid leave in first year (PTO & holidays)

Nursing Resource Pool (NRP) The Nursing Resource Pool (NRP) provides excellent opportunities for experienced Oncology nurses to work in a friendly, team‑oriented environment. We assist the hospital to fill staffing needs to each unit as assessed on a shift‑to‑shift basis. With a continuous change in census and acuity throughout the hospital, the NRP staff is flexible and trained to provide safe, effective, patient and family‑centered care. We treat a range of patients and enjoy the variety of working in different settings. Forty‑two percent of NRP registered nurses are OCN‑certified. NRP nurses also hold certifications in pediatric oncology, pain management, critical care, radiology and medical‑surgical.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Accountable for the management and provision of patient care in assigned area.
Assesses patient's needs for nursing care and multidisciplinary team.
Collaborates with physicians, other services, patient and patient's family to plan care and evaluate outcomes.
Improves practice by integrating results and theories of research studies.
Participates in data collection for current studies.
Demonstrates clinical competency and compassion in providing care, using technology, administering medications, performing procedures and managing emergencies.
Documents care according to established standards.
Accesses, inputs and retrieves information from computer systems.
Assures continuity of care through appropriate discharge planning, patient education and coordination of services.
Acts as a patient and family advocate in order to uphold patient rights.
Trains, coaches and assists team members to ensure optimum patient care and efficient use of resources.
EDUCATION
Required: Graduation from an accredited school of professional nursing.
Preferred: Bachelor's Degree Nursing.
WORK EXPERIENCE

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS
Required: RN – Registered Nurse – State Licensure, current State of Texas Professional Nursing license.
Required: ACLS – Advanced Cardiac Life Support.
Required: PALS – Pediatric Advanced Life Support (if working in the following department: Nurse Post Anesthesia Care Unit).
Preferred: OCN – Oncology Nurse Certification.
Preferred: Certification in specialty practice area.
