Overview

The Clinical Nurse on G20 Inpatient Leukemia at MD Anderson Cancer Center manages patient outcomes by providing, coordinating and supporting clinical aspects of direct patient care across the continuum of care. They impact quality of patient care, patient outcomes and use of resources in a designated area in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team. Ideal candidate will be a recent student nurse graduate with a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing, an RN license or pending NCLEX date with less than twelve months of recent RN experience in medical/surgical or an acute care setting. Shift will either be 7am-7pm or 7pm-7am, with rotating weekends and holidays required. Benefits

The G20 inpatient Hematology Service provides advanced oncology care to adult patients diagnosed with leukemia, myeloma, lymphoma and mycosis fungoides. Our health care team consists of specialized physicians, advanced practice providers, pharmacists, clinical nurses, and ancillary staff. Inpatient Leukemia care includes diagnosis, induction, consolidation, maintenance chemotherapy and symptom management, as well as salvage therapies for relapsed disease. Nurses in all areas are integral members of interdisciplinary teams leading in cancer care and research. Essential Job Functions

Accountable for the management and provision of patient care in assigned area. Assess patient\'s needs for nursing care and multidisciplinary team. Collaborate with physicians, other services, patient and family to plan care and evaluate outcomes. Improve practice by integrating results and theories of research studies. Participate in data collection for current studies. Demonstrate clinical competency and compassion in providing care, using technology, administering medications, performing procedures and managing emergencies. Document care according to established standards. Accesses, inputs and retrieves information from computer systems. Ensure continuity of care through discharge planning, patient education and coordination of services. Advocate for patients and families to uphold patient rights. Train, coach and assist team members to ensure optimum patient care and efficient use of resources. Education

Required: Graduation from an accredited school of professional nursing. Preferred: Bachelor\'s Degree in Nursing. Work Experience
