Job Description The Medical Assistant II is responsible for daily clinical work in the outpatient/primary care setting in accordance with the Ambulatory Medical Assistant Scope of Practice. Assists Physicians and other staff under the direction of a Registered Nurse, Advanced Practice Nurse and/or Physician.
Essential Job Functions
Depending on location, performs phlebotomy and specimen processing as directed by delegating provider.
May align to specific or multiple divisions.
Administers, including but not limited to, intramuscular injections, subcutaneous injections, intradermal skin testing, topical medications, ophthalmic drops and nasal spray.
Depending on location, performs ECGs, places Holter monitors and downloads telemetry data. Responsible for ECG and Holter program for a specific location.
Works in conjunction with other staff to maximize clinic flow.
Intervenes appropriately in emergency situations.
Documents data and changes in the Electronic Medical Record.
Provides assistance and/or backup support for administrative tasks including but not limited to scheduling patient visits and performing basic “check-in, check-out” activities.
Obtains measurements, patient history and other intake activities.
Stocks and maintains the clinic area including ordering of supplies as needed.
Demonstrates knowledge of pertinent aspects and competency with protocols related to the use of chemical disinfection, high level disinfection, and sterilization if required as part of the responsibilities of the role.
Depending on location, directs High Level Disinfection scope cleaning in accordance with defined HLD processes.
Completes trainings and education including but not limited to Healthcare Provider CPR.
Other job functions as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
High school diploma required.
Successful completion of a formal Medical Assistant program.
Possesses 3 or more years of relevant clinical experience.
Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) (AAMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) preferred but not required.
Some college, preferred.
Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association.
Excellent communication/listening skills. Substantial interpersonal skills sufficient to work effectively with pediatric patients, families, physicians, nursing and other allied health and medical center personnel.
Education High School Diploma/GED (Required)
Basic Life Support – American Heart Association (BLS)
Pay Range $19.50 - $30.23 Hourly
