Position Overview
The School of Kinesiology at Boise State University invites applications for a full‑time, 9‑month, tenure‑track open‑rank faculty position in exercise physiology or a closely related field, beginning August 2026. The successful candidate will develop a productive research program, pursue external funding commensurate with rank, provide high‑quality undergraduate and graduate instruction, and mentor master’s and doctoral students. Primary teaching responsibilities will include exercise physiology, with additional opportunities to teach in areas such as exercise testing and prescription, physical activity for special populations, strength and conditioning, and/or sports nutrition. This campus‑based position requires a 2/2 teaching load (two 3‑credit classes per semester, with the possibility to buy out of teaching load) and engagement in multiple teaching modalities (in‑person, hybrid, and online) to meet diverse student needs.
Department Overview
The School of Kinesiology is dedicated to advancing knowledge of lifelong health, physical activity, and sport through excellence in teaching, innovative research, and high impact service. It employs 20 full‑time faculty, a team of dedicated adjunct faculty, and three professional staff members. The school serves over 950 undergraduate and graduate students through programs in Kinesiology, K‑12 Physical Education and Health, Athletic Leadership (MAL), Athletic Training (MAT), Kinesiology (MK and MSK—non‑thesis and thesis tracks), and a transdisciplinary Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering. Additional centers such as the Center for Biomechanics and Orthopaedic Research and the Human Performance Lab are housed in the school. Boise State participates in NIH IDeA programs, operating two Centers of Biomedical Research Excellence and partnering with state institutes to offer research opportunities for students.

Minimum Qualifications
An earned doctorate in exercise physiology or a closely related field. ABD candidates will be considered, with the expectation that the doctoral degree will be completed by August 2026.
Established record or demonstrated potential for an active research agenda, including publications and presentations.
Established record or demonstrated potential for successful teaching at the college/university level.
Preferred Qualifications
Prior mentorship of graduate or undergraduate research students.
Postdoctoral research experience and/or demonstrated success with grant writing.
Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) certification or the knowledge and willingness to pursue certification.

Salary and Benefits
Salary starts at $75,000, dependent on rank and track, and is commensurate with experience.
Our standard faculty contract is a 9‑month contract (unless otherwise noted) with pay and benefits spread over 12 months. This is a yearly, renewable contract.
