Position: Research Data Analyst 2 – Educational Opportunity Project (EOP) The EOP, housed in GSE, is seeking a Research Data Analyst 2. The position is a 1‑year fixed‑term appointment based at Stanford’s main campus. It supports new work developing and analyzing a novel database of kindergarten readiness assessment data.
Consideration will be given to a hybrid work schedule (partially onsite and offsite). Candidates must be eligible to work in the U.S. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
What You’ll Do The analyst will work closely with the Executive and Faculty Directors of the EOP to develop code to clean, organize, and harmonize data from large longitudinal education datasets; implement statistical estimation methods; and analyze data for research publications.
Core Duties
Extract and clean data from a variety of sources, including state departments of education and federal agencies.
Identify potentially problematic data, make corrections, and eliminate root causes of data problems.
Build replicable and efficient software code for data cleaning and estimation.
Design and customize reports based on data in the database.
Create complex charts and databases, perform statistical analyses, and develop graphs and tables for publication and presentation.
Serve as a resource for non‑routine inquiries such as requests for statistics.
Create documentation for all code.
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor’s degree and three years of relevant experience or a combination of education and experience.
Experience in a quantitative discipline such as economics, finance, statistics, or engineering.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Substantial experience with MS Office and analytical programs, including Stata.
Excellent writing and analytical skills.
Ability to prioritize workload.
Certifications and Licenses None
Desired Qualifications
Master’s or doctoral degree preferred.
3+ years experience in Stata statistical programming preferred.
3+ years experience supporting quantitative social science research projects preferred.
Experience managing and analyzing large datasets preferred.
Experience developing efficient code architectures preferred.
Familiarity with advanced statistical methods (e.g., hierarchical linear modeling) a plus.
Experience working with K‑12 or postsecondary education data a plus.
Physical Requirements Stand regularly, sit, sort, file paperwork, use a computer, lift objects up to 10 pounds, and occasionally write by hand. Some standing and walking may be required, but most work is desk‑based.

Salary The expected pay range for this position is $108,002 to $128,138 per annum.
