The Safety Manager will maintain a safety‑driven culture at assigned project job sites and/or unit(s). The role involves planning, coordinating, and implementing safety, health, and environmental protection programs in construction, excavation, and mining settings. Responsibilities include monitoring and mitigating operational, safety, and environmental risks, coordinating with third‑party insurance and medical providers, and ensuring compliance with applicable regulations. Duties and Responsibilities
Implement approved safety and loss prevention programs, ensuring compliance with insurance procedures and risk‑management policies. Administer the organization’s safety training program, optimizing resource use and employee competence, including orientation, instruction, scheduling, and partnership with external providers. Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of current policies, regulations, and industry processes. Recommend safety features that reduce exposure to chemical, physical, and biological hazards. Conduct regular inspections of facilities, job sites, machinery, and safety equipment to identify and correct hazards while ensuring regulatory compliance. Champion the installation of safety devices and the proper use of personal protective equipment. Lead investigations of accidents, injuries, and occupational diseases; determine causes, implement preventive measures, and report metrics and trends. Review construction plans and specifications to assess safety requirements. Report findings from investigations, inspections, and environmental testing. Interview employees to gather information on work environments and incidents. Implement corrective actions and track all incidents to eliminate violations and risks to people, property, and the organization. Be available to rotate weekend on‑call schedules. Qualifications and Skills
5+ years of safety management experience in general industry and construction environments. Working knowledge of OSHA and MSHA regulations. Strong leadership and proactive problem‑solving skills. Broad conceptual judgment and initiative in addressing safety issues. Excellent verbal, written, and presentation communication skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel. Preferred
Bilingual in English and Spanish. CDL license. BS in Safety Management or equivalent. Professional certifications: CSP, CSHO‑Construction, USDOT, HAZWOPER, OSHA, MSHA, CPR, First Aid. Benefits
