Position Purpose
The Safety Manager is responsible for leading and enhancing the safety programs at LONG, with a focus on driving safety culture, ensuring compliance, and overseeing safety initiatives across all locations. This role will act as the primary leader for the Safety Committee, providing guidance, mentorship, and coordination of safety activities, while also ensuring continuous improvement in safety protocols. Essential Duties And Responsibilities
Monitor and track employee participation and completion of safety training programs. The Safety Manager will be responsible for developing, implementing, and managing a comprehensive safety program across multiple job sites. Supervise and mentor Safety Coordinators, fostering a collaborative approach to safety. Oversee and manage the Safety Committee, ensuring action items are followed up and driving key safety initiatives. Develop and implement strategic safety plans, setting goals for improving workplace safety culture and reducing incidents. Conduct audits and inspections to ensure compliance with safety regulations and internal safety policies. Analyze safety data and trends to identify areas for improvement, presenting findings to leadership. Coordinate accident investigations and provide recommendations for corrective actions and preventive measures. Regularly communicate safety updates, successes, and areas of improvement through newsletters, safety alerts, and team meetings. Serve as the point of contact for external safety audits and regulatory inspections. This role will focus on ensuring regulatory compliance, enhancing safety culture, reducing workplace incidents, and providing leadership with measurable safety insights and KPIs Conduct safety training programs for new hires and ongoing workforce education, ensuring compliance with OSHA and industry standards Perform regular job site inspections, hazard assessments, and safety audits to identify and mitigate risks Lead incident investigations, root cause analyses, and corrective action planning to prevent recurrences. Track and report key safety performance indicators (KPIs) such as incident rates, near misses, training completion rates, and regulatory compliance Ensure adherence to federal, state, and local safety regulations (e.g., OSHA, DOT) Act as the primary point of contact for safety-related matters, inspections, and reporting to company leadership Promote a strong safety culture by engaging with employees and fostering proactive safety practices Manage Workers’ Compensation claims, including incident reporting, claim follow-ups, and working closely with medical providers Maintain awareness of industry best practices with fleet management systems and technology, propose changes and implement new policies, procedures, programs Assure fleet is maintained according to company safety standards Facilitate Safety Committee meetings monthly Serve as the point of contact for external safety audits, regulatory inspections, insurance carriers and consultants. Foster a culture of proactivity, accountability, engagement and sustainability through robust programs and processes with the primary goal of eliminating incidents and injuries Other duties as assigned Qualifications
5+ years of experience in safety coordination and safety management, or related roles Knowledge of safety regulations (e.g., OSHA), best practices in workplace safety, and fleet management. Ability to legally drive a company vehicle. Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and willingness to accept responsibility and accountability. Possess effective communication (written and verbal) Strong attention to detail. Proficient in computer use, with advanced skills in various software, particularly spreadsheets for tracking and reporting purposes. Preferred Qualifications
