Work Arrangement Onsite - This position requires the employee to be onsite three to five days a week or at the strategic suppliers. Primary work location will be the General Motors Global Technical Center in Warren, MI or potential travel to the GMNA assembly plants as needed (approximately 5%).

The Role As a General Assembly Technical Leader (Flawless Launch), you’ll lead the design and standardization of cutting‑edge Bill of Equipment (BOE) and Bill of Tooling (BOT) that transform how we build vehicles. This role is ideal for a highly technical, hands‑on innovator who thrives in ambiguity and is passionate about solving complex manufacturing challenges. You will play a key role in advancing our BOE and BOT capabilities and making sure our systems are at the forefront of the industry.

What You’ll Do (Job Responsibilities)

Lead BOE and BOT: Direct the design, development and continuous improvement of BOE and BOT in General Assembly; develop strategies to standardize equipment to meet future product requirements; monitor expenditures, focusing on total enterprise cost‑saving opportunities.

Benchmarking: Benchmark world‑class processes and equipment, incorporate lessons learned, and lead global expert team meetings. Participate in feasibility studies and prototyping to explore new technologies and methodologies.

Manufacturing Requirements (MRs): Develop process manufacturing requirements (MRs) and automation enablers for trim, chassis, or final systems in General Assembly.

Collaborate Cross‑Functionally: Partner with internal teams and external suppliers to align on technical requirements, timelines, and deliverables.

Mentor & Influence: Guide execution and plant engineers and influence broader functional areas through technical leadership.

Ensure Compliance: Uphold safety standards, engineering best practices, and regulatory requirements throughout all tool and equipment initiatives.

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)

Bachelor's degree in engineering or equivalent experience.

5+ years of experience in manufacturing engineering with a focus on machinery and equipment, tools and automation.

3+ years manufacturing execution launch experience.

Understanding of machinery and equipment and tool design, and/or automation processing.

Deep understanding of general assembly processes and automation integration.

Strong knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement.

Demonstrated commitment to safety and compliance.

Proven ability to independently manage complex projects.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Ability to define and document manufacturing requirements, processes, and automation enablers.

What Will Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)

Experience in fast‑paced, high‑throughput environments with a focus on system reliability and maintainability.

Proficient in data analysis to drive continuous improvement.

3+ years in a supervisory or technical leadership role.

Familiarity with DFSS, DFMEA, & PFMEA.

Background in project and/or construction management.

Master’s degree in engineering or a related field.
