About the Company\n\nOur client is a respected and growing main contractor delivering high-quality construction projects across education, healthcare, and mixed-use sectors. With typical project values ranging from £1 million to £10 million, and a strong pipeline of work, the business is investing in its pre-construction and planning capabilities to support ongoing growth.\n\nAs part of this, they are seeking a Senior Planner / Tender Planner to take a lead role in developing programmes and supporting high-quality tender submissions, with a strong focus on crafting compelling and accurate quality responses as part of the bid process.\n\nRole Overview\n\nThis role will suit an experienced planner with solid construction knowledge and a passion for pre-construction and winning work. You will work on the preparation of tender programmes and methodology documents and collaborate closely with estimators, bid writers, design managers, and operational teams.\n\nA key part of the role is contributing to the quality section of tender submissions – turning technical knowledge into compelling, clear written answers and demonstrating the company's strengths in buildability, sequencing, logistics, and delivery methodology.\n\nThere is a clear career path for this position to step up to the next level within the next 12–24 months, depending on performance and the individuals aspirations.\n\nKey Responsibilities\n\n * \n\n Produce high-quality tender and pre-construction programmes using Asta Powerproject.\n\n * \n\n Lead planning input on bids from initial enquiry through to submission and interviews.\n\n * \n\n Work closely with bid teams to develop method statements, logistics plans, and phasing strategies.\n\n * \n\n Take ownership of the quality elements of tender submissions, including programme narrative, methodology responses, and risk mitigation.\n\n * \n\n Attend site visits, tender interviews, and engage with consultants and supply chain to validate programme logic and sequencing.\n\n * \n\n Liaise with Design Managers and Estimators to ensure coordinated and accurate submissions.\n\n * \n\n Support project teams post-award in the handover and development of contract programmes as needed.\n\n * \n\n Contribute to continuous improvement of planning procedures, templates, and knowledge base.\n\n * \n\n Mentor junior planners or pre-construction staff where applicable.\n\nCandidate Requirements\n\n * \n\n Strong experience in a Planning or Tender Planning role within a main contractor environment.\n\n * \n\n Proficient in Asta Powerproject is a must\n\n * \n\n Demonstrable experience working on tenders from £1M–£10M in value.\n\n * \n\n Ability to write clear, technically accurate, and persuasive content for quality submissions (e.g., methodology, logistics, programme narrative).\n\n * \n\n Excellent communication and collaboration skills.\n\n * \n\n Self-motivated with strong attention to detail.\n\n * \n\n Eligible to work in the UK and possess a full UK driving licence.\n\nDesirable:\n\n * \n\n Sector experience in education, commercial, healthcare, or residential projects
