Position: Senior Accountant I (Full‑time, Hybrid, Shift: Day)

Responsibilities
Reconciliation, analysis, and adjustment of general ledger accounts; ensures accuracy of account balances and compliance with accounting standards.
Communicates with financial institutions, tax authorities, external auditors, corporate offices, and others to correctly account for and report financial information.
Ensures timely, accurate, and thorough responses to inquiries; completes audit work papers within appropriate time frames.
Prepares accurate journal entries by the closing date each month; compiles supporting documentation, obtains approvals, and enters entries timely in the general ledger; adheres to monthly close calendar.
Identifies accounting problems and internal control weaknesses; researches solutions and presents recommendations to Senior Accountant and/or Management.
Contributes to and/or files federal/state payroll tax returns, quarterly state sales/use tax returns, corporate tax returns, and annual reports.
Completes other duties and projects as assigned.
Adheres to HMH Organizational competencies and standards of behavior.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in a relevant area of study or equivalent work experience.
Minimum of 4+ years of experience in accounting, or 2 years of public accounting experience with a CPA in progress to be completed within 2 years of hire.
Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
Highly organized self‑starter with efficient time management and organizational skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office (Excel) and/or Google Suite platforms.
Preferred Qualifications
Prior hospital or healthcare experience.
Knowledge of PeopleSoft Financials.
Certified Public Accountant (CPA) at hire or to be obtained within 2 years of hire.
Compensation Minimum rate of $82,513.60 Annually. HMH is committed to pay equity and transparency for our team members. The posted rate is a reasonable good faith estimate of the minimum base pay for this role at the time of posting in accordance with the New Jersey Pay Transparency Act and does not reflect the full value of our market‑competitive total rewards package.
