Integrated Atmospherics is seeking a
skilled and mission-focused Weather Observer
to join our team at Los Alamitos, California. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to a critical meteorological operation supporting U.S. military and aviation activities.
What You’ll Do
Conduct Meteorological Weather Watch, including taking, evaluating, recording, encoding, and disseminating METAR/SPECI surface weather observations per AFMAN 15-111.
Maintain real-time situational awareness (“eyes forward”) for the Operational Weather Squadron (OWS).
Disseminate and issue weather warnings and advisories as required.
Answer Pilot to Metro Circuit calls and relay Pilot Reports (PIREPs).
Collaborate with Air Traffic Control to perform Cooperative Weather Watch.
Perform daily quality control, routine equipment maintenance, operational reporting (OPREP), and maintain station logs and forms.
Support additional administrative and training functions as assigned.
Note:
Operations may include
nights, weekends, holidays , and occasional overtime. Scheduling is determined by the Site Manager and may vary based on mission requirements.
Minimum Qualifications
U.S. Citizenship
required.
At least
2 years of experience
as a DoD or FAA certified weather observer.
Proficiency in taking, recording, and disseminating
METAR/SPECI
observations.
Distant vision of at least 20/30 (Snellen) in at least one eye (corrected if needed).
Adequate training commensurate with the scope of the contract.
Demonstrated ability to operate FMQ-19, JET, and Kestrel systems, and to perform all tasks required by AFMAN 15-111 and AFMAN 15-129V2.
Strong communication skills and proficiency in MS Word and Excel.
Desired Qualifications
Current or recent
CAC ID
and/or
T1-level background check
(within the past 2 years).
Experience with
PIREPs ,
PMSV , and interpreting satellite and radar imagery.
Prior experience with FMQ-19, JET, and Kestrel systems.
Formal weather technical school completion.
