About this position LMCU is looking for a Personal Banking Advisor who will serve as a financial consultant and advocate for LMCU's members including both new and existing consumer and business clients. This role focuses on meeting members' financial needs by providing expert guidance, actively cross-selling LMCU products, and delivering exceptional service. Personal Banking Advisors are responsible for setting up new accounts, processing loans, and assisting with a variety of financial products while building long-term relationships with members to help them achieve a lifetime of financial success. The role requires strong consultative skills, a commitment to service excellence, and the ability to meet individual and branch goals. Excellent attention to detail, superior communication skills, and critical thinking abilities are essential.
What You’ll Do
Promote strong member interactions by establishing trust and rapport, ensuring a personalized and consultative approach.
Educate members on LMCU products and services, identifying cross-sell opportunities such as loans, credit cards, mortgages, and banking services.
Demonstrate critical thinking and problem‑solving skills to meet member needs while mitigating risks.
Build relationships with members, ensuring high-quality service that encourages retention and satisfaction.
Resolve conflicts and de‑escalate unfavorable situations with professionalism, empathy, and care.
Prioritize and organize tasks, ensuring timely follow‑ups and accuracy in all dealings.
Ensure compliance with LMCU's policies and regulatory requirements, maintaining security standards.
Consult on new consumer and business accounts, loans, credit cards, mortgages, HSA/IRA accounts, and business product offerings.
Contribute to branch goals by meeting sales and customer service targets and promoting LMCU products.
Represent LMCU in the community through events or on‑site business employer sessions.
Identify opportunities to refer members to other LMCU departments (Mortgage, Wealth, Premier, Insurance, Treasury, Commercial) to enhance satisfaction and branch growth.
Mentor and coach peers, sharing best practices for referrals, product knowledge, and sales techniques.
Participate in LMCU projects, initiatives, and culture, promoting core values such as PRIDE.
Adapt to changing branch needs, contributing to problem‑solving during new challenges.
Assist in branch operations as needed, including processing transactions, vault responsibilities, and supervisor duties during peak times.
What You’ll Bring
Three to five years of similar or related experience.
High school diploma or equivalent (required); additional coursework or banking experience preferred.
Michigan Resident Producer Credit Insurance License required; external candidates must complete licensing exam and provide proof within 90 days of hire.
Registered through NMLS and notary certification through the county.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills to engage members and provide personalized solutions.
In-depth knowledge of LMCU products and accurate processing of consumer and business accounts and loans.
Proven ability to meet sales targets and contribute to branch goals in a results‑driven environment.
Exceptional problem‑solving and conflict resolution skills.
Adaptability and flexible approach to meet changing branch needs.
