City of Pleasanton is seeking Police Officers for the Police Department.

About the Police Department The Pleasanton Police Department is committed to protecting life, preventing crime, and enhancing the quality of life in our community. The department is organized into three divisions: Operations (patrol, Traffic Unit, Alternate Response Unit), Investigations (Criminal Investigations Unit, Youth and Community Services, Personnel and Training, Special Enforcement Unit, Community Outreach and social media, in‑service training and certified courses for POST compliance), and Support Services (dispatch, records, public records management). The department also offers collateral assignments including SWAT, K‑9, Crime Scene Investigation (CSI), Crisis Negotiation Team (CNT), and more.
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or GED equivalent.
Prior law enforcement experience and some college coursework in criminology, police sciences, or related field (desirable).
Age: at least 21 years old.
Must possess a Basic Certificate from POST at the time of appointment.
Vision/Hearing: 20/100 uncorrected vision in each eye, correctable to 20/30 or better; normal color vision; hearing loss no more than 25 dB in 500 – 2000 Hz and no more than 45 dB in 3000 – 4000 Hz.
Valid Class C California driver’s license and proof of auto liability insurance.
Successful completion of a thorough background investigation; no convictions that could have led to state or federal imprisonment.
Successful completion of drug screen, medical, psychological, and polygraph examinations.
Women, minorities, and military veterans encouraged to apply.
Effective January 1, 2023, citizenship is not required; must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. under federal law.
