Job Description Sr. Environmental Engineer
We are seeking an experienced Environmental Engineer with expertise in water compliance and management to join a leading manufacturing facility. The role involves maintaining and improving water and waste compliance programs, including managing NPDES and wastewater treatment systems. This position offers an excellent opportunity to develop your water management skills within a company committed to growth and sustainability.
The successful candidate will join a team of environmental professionals, contributing to the organization’s environmental excellence through effective management systems. Strong communication, analytical, and organizational skills are essential, along with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
This position reports to the Facility Environmental Manager and collaborates with regional and corporate environmental teams.
Responsibilities
Maintain and enhance environmental management systems to ensure compliance with regulations such as Air Permitting, NPDES, Stormwater, and others.
Assist operations in meeting environmental standards, pursuing stewardship, and improving environmental performance.
Utilize technology and best practices to improve compliance resilience and efficiency.
Lead assessments to identify performance gaps and improvement opportunities.
Build relationships with regulatory agencies and internal stakeholders.
Develop knowledge of mill processes and their environmental impacts.
Implement mobile inspections for water and waste compliance.
Provide environmental support outside of regular hours on a rotational basis.
Qualifications Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree or higher in Chemical, Environmental, or related engineering/science field.
Minimum of 5 years of environmental regulatory experience in manufacturing or industrial settings.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with large manufacturing environmental programs, air regulations, and wastewater treatment.
Knowledge of hazardous waste management and pulp and paper regulatory issues.
Experience with data analysis, IoT devices, and mobile inspection platforms.
