The Bedford‑Stuyvesant Family Health Center (BSFHC) is a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) that serves all of the primary health care needs of families in the heart of North and Central Brooklyn. Responsibilities
Monitor patient arrival and assist with patient flow and ensure that patients and visitors are greeted promptly and courteously.
Escort patients to exam rooms, monitor patient wait times, assist patients in preparing for exam, and advise the physician when a patient is ready.
Obtain and record patient’s chief complaints, information, data and record histories.
Perform, prepare and assist as needed with clinical screenings and technical procedures.
Take digital radiographs and CBCT scans.
Document clinical information in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
Assist in various procedures, including surgical procedures.
Set up and break down the operatory.
Sterilize and process instruments.
Provide general support for the dental team.
Act as a receptionist, greeting and assisting patients courteously.
Initiate the registration process, maintain and confirm patient demographic information, verify insurance, collect payments and co‑payments.
Answer phone calls and schedule appointments.
Requirements / Qualifications
High school diploma or general education diploma (GED) or required experience.
Dental Assistant Certificate.
Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) preferred.
Two (2) years of Dental Assistant or relevant work experience preferred.
Must be flexible with scheduling.
Maintain HIPAA patient/employee confidentiality.
Knowledge of EMR systems a must.
Bilingual ability a plus.
Excellent interpersonal skills, demonstrating professionalism, courtesy and respect in dealing with patients, team members, families and community members.
Display courtesy, tact and patience with all members of the team and extended community.
Ensure that all patients and visitors receive personalized, prompt attention and are treated with receptiveness, dignity and respect.
Provide instructions to the patient upon discharge as instructed by the providers.
