Assistant Vice President, Electrical Engineer
to join our Property & Buildings team in California. This position can sit out of any of our WSP offices in California. The ideal candidate will have extensive education design experience in the state of California, with both technical leadership and business development experience to help grow our Property and Buildings business. This role will actively participate in the full project cycle with a focus on complex sector work such as education, K-12, community college and higher educational projects from the design phase through final construction close-out. Coordinate, review and approve electrical design plans, ensuring data integrity and compliance with all applicable codes, ordinances, and regulations. Apply high-level electrical engineering techniques to identify improvements across project phases including concept development, preliminary design, final design, procurement, construction, and operation. Plan and incorporate future-ready techniques, operating strategies, and design requirements that ensure safety and functionality for end-users, systems, and infrastructure. Be involved from project inception to completion in the management of electrical design and construction. Oversee and monitor cross-functional teams of engineers to execute project work on mid-level and multiple concurrent projects, including budgets, hours and expenses tracking, task completion, technical calculations, construction, compliance documentation, and regulatory/technical memos. Prepare data and visualizations (tables, charts, reports, sketches, calculations, cross-sections) for interpretation or presentation of complex findings. Prepare comprehensive technical reports and presentations to address design or construction issues or opportunities. Manage client relationships and provide key technical input on pursuit efforts. Develop relationships with key internal and external stakeholders. Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds and resources, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies. Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs. Qualifications
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or Architectural Engineering 10+ years of relevant post-education experience as an electrical engineer Professional Engineering license required Extensive knowledge of electrical design, particularly in the education industry and with DSA Established local network Proficiency with electrical engineering principles, practices, processes, design/build, and permitting-related issues Experience with electrical planning, design, and construction management across renovation and new designs Well-defined knowledge of relevant engineering and electrical construction laws, codes, regulations, compliance practices, and record-keeping Strong ability to perform technical computations, interpret plans and specifications, and compare against regulations Proven coordination and leadership to drive tasks safely and efficiently Commitment to workplace safety and adherence to WSP health, safety, and harassment policies Preferred Qualifications
LEED AP Certification At least 8+ years of project management experience WSP Benefits

Expected Salary (all locations): $129,600-$192,390 WSP USA is providing this compensation range in good faith based on the applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, internal equity, and location.
